July 2009 News and Announcements

Summer is the perfect time to Circle Hop.  No, its not a new dance.  If your Circle takes the summer off, visit one of the other circles that are meeting.  Enjoy a movie, learn about Quilting, study the bible with a new group of ladies.

A Social/Birthday party on Tuesday July 28th is scheduled at Brenham Rest Home, hosted by the Rachel Circle.

SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGE - Last month while reading the WELCA Purpose Statement 2 words came to mind: Support and Encourage.  That’s what our July Bible Study is all about.  That’s what Mary and Elizabeth drew from each other during their visit.  That’s what we are called to do for our Families, our Circle members, our neighbors, and our World.

Joint Synod Convention of the Women of the ELCA to be held August 7 through 9This year’s convention will be held “just down the road” at Camp Allen Resort & Retreat Center, just outside of Navasota. If you’re not familiar with this beautiful retreat center, I encourage you to visit the WELCA Synod’s website (http://txlagulfcoastwomenelca.com) or Camp Allen’s website (www.campallen.org) to view the amenities that Camp Allen offers. Camp Allen policy requires that all attendees register in advance. They cannot accept any late registration or at-the-door registrations. Tuesday, June 30th, is the deadline to submit your registration form and fee in the amount of $215.  A registration form is attached or one may be found on the bulletin board in the annex. The fee includes all costs of the convention, plus your room accommodations, Friday lunch & dinner, three meals on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday.

SILENT AUCTION AND COUNTRY STORE DONATIONS - Again this year our Synod Convention, August 7-9, will have a Silent Auction and County Store.  If you have donations for the Silent Auction (value over $5/item) or the Country Store (value between $3-$5/item) please contact Betty Feldmann by the end of the month: 979-830-5121.  Funds raised will become part of a combined effort to support our global  mission as part of Women of the ELCA by supporting  the “Water to Thrive” project and our companion synods in Costa Rica, Central African Republic and Peru.
