Men in Mission Song:
(Goes to the tune of "Lead on, O King Eternal")
The Lutheran Men in Mission,
we hear His call to serve.
And by His grace we render,
to stretch forth every nerve.
His mighty hand upon us,
His pow'r invades the call.
Our witness for the Master,
to revel in His cause
To offer gifts he gave us,
to strive to serve aright.
His love propels us onward,
we glory in His might.
So let us bow before Him,
in humble stance we show,
Our love for fellow Christians,
extol His work below.
To lift our hearts in glory,
to honor and proclaim.
And place our alms before him,
to magnify his name.
Then let us rise in mission,
we hear His call to serve.
And by His grace we render,
to stretch forth every nerve.
Men in Mission
2009 Men in Mission:
On Sunday, June 21st we will be awarding our second-year St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill Men in Mission Scholarships.
This year we have one applicant, Laura Peiper. Laura will be continuing her education by attending college to study for a career in the Medical profession. Laura is a faithful member of St. John and has been active in many activities from the gift of her singing to leadership roles in the LYO and also the voice of the youth in planning for our future. The Men in Mission groups of St. John are extremely proud to be a part of Laura's future as well with all the members of the St. John family.
St. John's Men in Mission groups (which comprise of the Men's Brotherhood, Men's Breakfast Group, and Men's Choir) would like to thank all that have donated to the scholarship fund - the two endowments, support of the fund raisers and memorials or monies given to the fund. The response has been fantastic and makes it possible to continue awarding scholarships in the future. Plans are for more fund raising activities to support next years group and years to come. With having the honor of helping the youth on the Easter breakfast and seeing a large group of great young girls and boys that were there working hard, we still have a lot of work ahead of us and ask for your continued support of this wonderful project.
Again thank you to all that who make this possible and we ask that you continue to support the St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill Men in Mission Scholarship Fund as we support the Youth of our St. John family and as we all make this "A Place to Call Home."
Every month, the men of St. John gather for fellowship, study, and support. We look forward to seeing you at one of these great opportunities this month.
Men’s Choir
Every fourth Sunday, the men of St. John (under the direction of Mary Longhofer) enhance our worship with the gift of song. Join us for rehearsals on Wednesday nights.
Men’s Breakfast
Every third Saturday (May 16) at 7:30 am, we gather for fellowship and food in the Parish Hall. The food is always great, the friendships are even better!
Brotherhood
On the first Sunday of the month (May 3) at 7:00 pm, we gather for a time of study and fellowship. Join us as we pick Pastor David’s brain and learn more about faith, the Bible, and one another.
Gerald Herrmann President,
Men's Brotherhood

St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill - Men in Mission Scholarship fund
Establishied July 2007
The Second Annual St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, Men in Mission Scholarship Award was presented by Brotherhood President Gerald Herrmann to Laura Pieper at the 10:05am Service on Sunday, June 21st, 2009.
Laura Pieper will be entering LVN (Licensed Vocational Nursing) school on August 3st at Blinn College here in Brenham. It is a one year program, and when she's done she will be licensed as a nurse. After that, she plans to stay in Brenham and work on her pre-requisites toward her RN, and when she finishes that, she will have an associates degree in Nursing. After she receives her RN, she will probably start working towards getting her Bachelor's in Nursing (which all can be done online). Laura is not sure if she is going to stick around Brenham to get her RN. She said probably she will do her pre-requisites here, but she's not sure if she will go off somewhere else and do the actual program. She has been looking into Texas Women's nursing program or possibly Texas A&M's nursing program, but she will just wait and see.
