Ten Cemetery signs have been purchased and installed to mark the three areas in the cemetery. Please drive by and check them out.
The Construction of a new cemetery road was donated to the church by Russell Seeker Family. The cost of this road was to be paid from the Memorial fund, but the Seekers so generously donated this gift to us. Thank you to the Seekers for this gracious gift.
Veterans
If you have ever walked through our cemetery, you have undoubtedly noticed many bronze plaques marking the graves of the men and women of our congregation who have spent time in the Armed Services. There are indeed many men and women from this community who have served our country, placing themselves in harm’s way in order to protect all of us.
Yet there are three members of our congregation from among this group who stand out, who were unable to be buried here in the cemetery at Prairie Hill. These young men gave their lives during the Second World War, and are commemorated by the flag over our cemetery and the monument at the base of that flag:
Harold C. Hohlt died on February 15, 1945, and is buried in the military cemetery at San Antonio, Texas.
Herbert Spreen died on April 21, 1944, and is buried in Leavenworth, Kansas.
Otto Schlottmann died on April 12, 1945, and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery just outside of Washington, D.C.

Headstone Problems
The Cemetery Committee would like to take action to repair headstones in the church cemetery that are leaning, fallen, or in need of repair. Most of the problems are in Area #1 (the southwest corner section). Below is a list of headstones with various problems. This list was made several moths ago, and new problems may have come up since then. If you know the name and address of a relative of the persons listed below please contact the church office. The Cemetery Committee would like to contact the families, since we prefer that each family care for the markers of their relatives.
There are also some headstones with problems in Area #2 that are not on the list below. Please help us to resolve these problems so that we may improve the appearance of the cemetery and—more importantly—show proper respect for the deceased. Families who wish to repair the headstone of a deceased relative may contact the church office for the name and number of someone who can do this work.
